Our client in Swindon is looking for an experienced DBA & Developer with strong SQL skills.
Objective:
To manage all the technical aspects of the marketing database solution for the group To monitor and fine tune the solution to improve the efficiency of the solution. To install and manage any technical upgrades that are required. To assist in the design and development of new requirements. To run adhoc processing tasks to support direct marketing activities and list rental for multichannel retailers.
Specific tasks:
- Running,monitoring and resolving any issues with the routine update process of the SQL server database and the Faststats application
- Fine tune the performance of the SQL server database and the Faststats build
- Management and updating of suppression files (e.g. TBR; Obit) and MPS
- Resolve any technical issues with respect to the processing of any third party data and cold lists
- Resolve any issues with respect to data file outputs to printers, email blasting houses and third parties
- Undertaking appropriate data audits of raw data files and producing the relevant data profiling reports
- Answering technical questions and providing guidance and support to the Marketing/Campaign Analyst
- Provide assistance to the Marketing/Campaign analyst to develop new bespoke reports for the business users in Faststats.
- To develop new bespoke reports from SQL server
- Keeping up to date any technical documentation e.g. design documentation (high level and low level design); feed analysis; schema; data mapping and data flow diagrams; system testing; data dictionary
- Manage, implement and update training notes with respect to installing new releases of Software including Faststats; third party matching software and when required SQL server
- Installing the appropriate windows and SQL server patches
- Managing the regular backup process at IOmart
- Manage and test the disaster recovery process at IOmart
- Manage the day to day relationship at IOMart (data centre)
- Capacity planning
- System testing
- Support the end user testing
- Support the technical production of any ad-hoc requests
- In collaboration with the senior developer investigate and evaluate change requests, identifying what is required from a technical viewpoint and the amount of effort required to implement the change. If approved develop and system test the technical changes required.
It is anticipated that going forward the person appointed to this role will become the Faststats expert within the company and will work on additional client development work in the future.
Skill base/experience
Knowledgeable about direct marketing requirements from a data and systems standpoint.
Essential experience covering SQL server and Faststats:

Education level
Educated to degree level or equivalent in a computing discipline.
Environment
You will be part of a small dynamic team and it is important you can work independently as well as being an integral member of a small team. You will need to be able to work to tight deadlines and be able to multi-task.
You will work very closely with the Marketing/Campaign Analyst to ensure that the relevant data is available for the front end applications developed in Faststats.
A proactive approach with respect to providing recommendations on how solutions may be developed for a client is required.
You will be an integral team member who will provide input and recommendations for any new products or services that are being developed by the company.
Other Specific Requirements
The job will involve working at multiple sites including Swindon and Milton Keynes.
Must be able to travel to meetings with clients.
