My client is a world-class research organization with HEFCE RAE ratings of international excellence across all of its research programmes .
My client is seeking a Health, Safety & Environmental Manager specialising in laboratory safety to lead a Health and Safety Service Team on its london Site to develop, influence and improve safety culture in line with the Safety Management System OHSAS 18001.
This role requires a proactive and versatile approach as you will be expected to provide advice, guidance, support and training in a wide range of areas throughout the Institute. You will be required to engage with the scientific community as a peer professional and will be a key member of our Health, Safety and Environment Committees.
You will possess previous experience of managing a small team of health and safety professionals, ideally in a scientific research environment. You should be able to demonstrate up to date knowledge of health and safety legislation and good practice guidance (e.g. RIDDOR, COSHH, etc) including the ability to apply this practically to all aspects of laboratory safety. You should also be able to provide evidence of your ability to influence at a senior level.
You will have attained a degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant scientific or Health and Safety discipline. In addition possession of a recognised health and safety qualification such as the NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent is essential. Membership of IOSH, preferably CMIOSH, is desirable.
