Solar Press, a newly formed London-based company for the technology development and commercialisation of organic photovoltaics, is hiring scientists and engineers for the design and fabrication of organic solar cells, and the development of the associated process technology. Recognising that the principal asset of our company is the intellectual captial of its staff, we are seeking the most talented, creative, and ambitious scientists and engineers.
Recruiting Device, Process Development Scientists/Engineers and Technical Assistants
The primary responsibility of the device design scientists and
engineers will be the innovation and optimisation of novel OPV device
designs for commercial manufacturing, including the development of new
device architectures and hands-on fabrication of laboratory prototypes.
Main activities:
- Develop a world leading OPV Lab
- Establish robust device fabrication protocols
- Planning and designing experiments to develop, assess, and optimise devices
- Screen novel materials for their use in OPV devices
- Characterisation and in-depth device analysis
- Systematic knowledge capture
- Assist the development of new invention concepts, supporting information for patents
The process technology scientists and engineers will be responsible
for the development and optimisation of scalable, cost-effective
commercially viable OPV manufacturing routes for large scale
production.
Main activities:
- Specify and select process equipment/toolkits
- Optimise deposition and patterning processes for OPV device layers
- Processing methods for controlling the photoactive layer structure
- Metrology techniques for characterising the effectiveness of the processes
- Processing techniques to improve device stability
- Collaboration with industry partners for joint development of manufacturing methods
Requirements:
- Postgraduate degree in Physics, Engineering, Materials Science, a
closely related discipline, or an undergraduate degree with strong
experience in applied R & D.
- 2+ years of industrial technology development experience, strongly preferred
- Experience in the field of organic/plastic electronics would be highly advantageous
- Inventiveness, enthusiasm, and aptitude for hands-on experimental work is essential
