An excellent opportunity exists for an experienced Marine ecologist to join this leading international consultancy based in Edinburgh or Glasgow, to take a lead on and further develop marine ecology and environmental work. This is an excellent opportunity to join a rapidly expanding ecology team, working on exciting marine renewables, planning, development and conservation projects. The successful candidate is likely to be a specialist in marine and coastal ecology, and hold proven track record in relevant consultancy projects.

*Qualification- Candidates for this role will ideally hold a relevant BSc / MSc in Marine biology / similar (PhD Advantageous), full membership of an appropriate professional body and a full clean driving licence.

*Location- Flexible (Glasgow, Edinburgh, Aberdeen)


*Experience- The successful candidate for this role will hold a demonstrable track record in ecology consultancy with specific in depth knowledge of marine ecology and legislation, it is anticipated that the candidate will hold expertise in one or more of the following; sea bird ecology, renewable energy developments, coastal oil and gas developments , port and harbour developments, coastal zone management, marine mammal ecology.
Those with a local knowledge will be at an advantage (although not essential) as will those with demonstrable industry contacts. Good project management, client liaising and staff management are also required skills.

*Salary- competitive salary - Up to £42,000 plus excellent benefits

Duties Include:
- large scale project management
- providing technical expertise in the marine ecology field
- liaising with clients and other stakeholders
- providing expert legislation and policy advice
- seeking to further expand and develop the consultancies marine ecology capabilities and market share
- advising clients and statutory bodies on marine conservation issues
- technical report writing and review for EIA
- Liaising with internal colleagues from other disciplines on large scale projects
- collaborating with nation wide teams on large scale projects

Typical Projects include but are not limited to;

Off shore wind farm developments
Tidal energy developments
Wave energy developments
Port and harbour developments
Power and oil and gas infrastructure developments
Conservation advice
Research and advice for development of legislation, working with statutory bodies
