Excellent opportunity to work as a Senior Category Manager within Logistics, Distribution, FLT, Courier, and Warehousing Categories for a UK wide company. This role is all about the management of 3rd party Logistics on behalf of the client

The Salary/Benefits:

·£38,000 - £42,000 per annum plus benefits (potentially some flexibility on the base for a real star!)

·20% bonus + car + other benefits

The Candidate:

Senior Category Manager (Strategic Sourcing / 3rd Party Logistics / Supply Chain)

PERSON PROFILE:

·Background in management of 3rd party logistics / distribution /import / export providers

·Educated to Degree level or equivalent qualification/experience, preferably CIPS.

·Demonstrated Strategic Sourcing background, with proven track record of Total Cost of Ownership execution.

·Supply Chain; Procurement and Project Management experience.

·Demonstrable track record of delivering cost reduction and service / quality improvement through innovation and the application of purchasing best practices.

·Strong influential and persuasion skills.

·Effective verbal, written and presentation skills.

·Good listening and questioning techniques.

·Ability to develop rapport quickly.

·Management skills, including motivating and teambuilding; an expert in change management.

·Proven negotiation skills, ability to think strategically and creative approach to exploring opportunities and problem-solving.

The Role:

Senior Category Manager (Strategic Sourcing / 3rd Party Logistics / Supply Chain)

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:

·Reporting to the Head of Supply Chain, the role is responsible for supporting the development of the Company’s Sourcing Strategy, and executing/managing sourcing strategies and strategic initiatives for all areas of the business using Total Cost of Ownership methodology.

·A key focus will be on the management of 3rd party logistics (e.g. pallet level distribution / logistics companies)

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

·Develop, maintain and improve relationships and strategies with local and national management ensuring involvement of key stakeholders and compliance to any agreement/initiatives put in place.

·Influences, inspires and directs others towards achieving business objectives across the Company and throughout the supply chain organisations.

·Provides sourcing direction to multiple functional areas within the Company.

·Facilitating maximum value for money and procurement ‘best practices’ through the delivery of both hard and cost savings.

·Establishing, articulating and managing sourcing strategies for supply categories for all areas within the business in concert with the company’s overall strategies.

·Instigate the successful launch of Product Improvement Team initiatives with Enterprise Businesses, promoting and capturing the benefits.

·Personally leading high value and critical contract negotiations to achieve best possible outcomes for the company. Execute high value and/or critical category reviews using TCO methodology in conjunction with Strategic Sourcing techniques.

·Manage cultural and business change, evaluating the impact of project changes and adjusts implementation activities to meet revised plan.

·Ensures continuous improvement through improved performance, quality, and enhanced profitability on an ongoing basis. Measured through the delivery of hard and soft cost savings.

·Designs/Re-Engineers business processes to ensure sustainability of savings, quality and service.

·Provides corporate leadership by developing relationships with suppliers (up to and including CEO’s of these companies) to plan and implement strategies and initiatives.

·Responsible for implementing the company’s Sourcing Strategy covering all expenditure on inventory and non-inventory categories.

·Developing plans, utilising company’s Strategic Sourcing process, to ensure the achievement of cost reduction targets.

·Together with other functional managers, develop and manage the Product Improvement Teams initiatives across the business.

·Supporting development of best practice sourcing policies and processes throughout the company to meet agreed business objectives.

·Reporting on current and future supply market activities, together with opportunities and threats to the business.

·Developing risk and contingency strategies for all major supply and service elements.

·Developing and promoting a programme to significantly improve supplier performance that ensures the company becomes a ‘customer of choice’ for key commodities and services.

·This role can be based from home or at any one of our clients numerous sites around the UK.
