James Gray Associates have been asked to source a Senior Design Manager on behalf of one of the UKs leading M&E Contractors for major projects work in London and the South East.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES - TENDER STAGE
- Provide responses to pre-qualification requirements
- Identify key design issues & responsibilities from bid documents
- Undertake technical review of bid documents
- Determine design risks
- Establish required design deliverables.
- Create a Design Responsibilities matrix
- Review design with design team to identify opportunities for innovation and value engineering
- Review with estimating function and design team sub-contract
tender returns to establish bid quality and completeness
- Establish requirements for Tender return and assist Bid Manager
to collate all necessary drawings, specifications, Contractors
Proposals, programmes, methodology and other necessary items
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES - CONTRACT STAGE- Review the roles and responsibilities of the
consultants and specialists.
- Confirm the scope of services required and
formalise the Design Responsibilities matrix
- Contribute to the production of the Design and Procurement
Programme by the planning and resourcing function.
- Identify and agree
the design deliverables required and ensure effective processes are in
place for reporting design progress
- Ensure information flow, including RFIs/TQs is maintained to
all relevant parties.
- Identify co-ordination issues and package interfaces
and ensure each party is amending their work as the design progresses
- Contribute to the procurement process, including scope
definitions, and agree and expedite the design team’s package
deliverables.
- Review returns for compliance, buildability, quality and
value engineering opportunities
- Review design information before it is issued to ensure
compliance.
- Identify critical quality and tolerance issues to the construction package managers as installation progresses
- Expedite designers and trade contractors contributions to the
project Health & Safety file / Operation & Maintenance Manuals
This is an outstanding opportunity for the right individual, however we will only consider applications from Design Managers currently working with a top M&E Contractor or Project Managers with D&B experience who want to focus in that area.
