Senior Design Manager - Circa £60,000 plus package - South West.
This is an outstanding opportunity for a proven Senior Design Manager to join a National, highly reputable contractor, working on their social and sustainable housing and care homes projects.
The role will involve providing the functional leadership and management of design management resource on a major project or a smaller cluster of projects within a region or product stream, from pre-qualification to completion.
Key Accountabilities include:
-Providing focus for the gathering and sharing of the business unit /sector design knowledge
-Providing professional advice with regard to risk / opportunity, design and construction issues
-Assessing design risk and monitoring its mitigation
-Assisting in setting the design strategy for projects and ensuring all aspects of the design management procedures are implemented
-Managing the production of the contractors' proposals
-Producing and negotiating the project specific designer agreements, scope of works and the design management plan
-Producing, agreeing and managing a realistic design programme and information required schedule to satisfy design, procurement and construction requirements
-Managing the design on site with the assistance of other site based resource
-Ensuring the design has been reviewed on all projects with respect to mitigating Health and Safety issues
Suitable applicants must have a strong knowledge of contracts and contract documentation and construction methods, materials and technology. You should also have a good understanding of Health and safety and environmental legislation and issues, Planning techniques, procurement and management systems and Risk management, life cycle cost and value creation.
Candidates should also be able to demonstrate experience within temporary works, codes for sustainable homes, rain water harvesting, section agreements, HCA requirements, SAP analysis and modern methods of construction ( timber frame etc)
Candidates with MCIOB status and who are a chartered architect or chartered engineer would be preferred
Projects will range from £2million up to £22 million mainly within new build social housing and care homes arena.
