Job Purpose:
To produce high quality Software, focusing on timely delivery and quality.
Key Responsibilities:
Produce code , as assigned by the manger on the project. Production of code includes designing, coding, documenting, inspecting, unit testing and assuring that all of these elements are produced together.
Always look for the simplest, cheapest and least risky design. Avoid unnecessary complexity in design and point out opportunities to simplify all work products produced by the project team.
Adhere to the department's Work Practices for writing software.
Make Project Manager aware of training and resource issues affecting performance.
Assume lead role as required by Development Manager
Support other members of development team to ensure goals are met and good practice is being followed
Set a good example to other members of team to encourage a positive attitude and follow correct procedures at all times especially when under pressure
Key Responsibilities
Participate in code reviews and unit testing, ensuring that agreed coding standards and quality targets are met.
Identify new coding techniques/practices/technologies and suggest their application within your project as appropriate.
Communicate ideas, accomplishments, plans, issues and techniques effectively to the rest of the team including the development lead and Project Manager via both informal and formal channels.
Participate in costing changes to specification and code after baselining as requested by Project Manager / Dev Lead.
Contribute to the production of a development schedule based upon the Functional Specification incorporating mini-milestones to aid project visibility.
Provide regular status updates, reflecting progress against the development schedule. Report any anticipated schedule slippage at the earliest possible opportunity.
