The successful candidate will join an existing team of mechanical and electrical engineers to carry out and lead electrical engineering design and management of projects, reporting to the M&E team leader. The post is within the Property & Surveying team of Atkins in Leeds, delivering refurbishment and new build projects, large and small, in both public and private sectors mainly in the North East of the UK. The position is predominantly based at the Leeds office location but with a requirement to attend client meetings offsite, visit site locations and work from other Atkins offices to develop relationships with clients and the wider Atkins community. There is likely to be some requirement to work away from home overnight.

Requirements
  • Chartered Electrical Engineer (C Eng, MIET) or equivalent
  • Honours Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
  • Project Engineer with experience of design, project management and site supervision.
  • Ability to demonstrate competency in building services packages specific to electrical building services; current HEVACOMP, Amtech and Specification Expert.
  • Ability to demonstrate a thorough understanding of current approaches to energy conservation, sustainable building services, engineering solutions and LZC design solutions.
  • Ability to carry out conceptual design; produce feasibility studies and viability assessments, performance and employers requirements specifications.
  • Undertake independent studies and analysis and prepare recommendations and conclusions for formal review.
  • Assist in the preparation of fee bids as directed.
  • Needs to be commercially aware and have a flexible attitude to both the type of work undertaken and the level of responsibility accepted.
  • An ability to resolve differences, create open communication procedures.
  • Motivate and lead to deliver effective performance and delegate responsibilities as appropriate. Take ownership of projects and activities; empower and encourage employees.
  • Display effective verbal and written communications to match the communication needs of the business. Display strong communication skills, particularly demonstrating the ability to inspire, influence and negotiate.
  • Develop and build good client relationships and help identify business opportunities but will not have formal client or sales accountability.


Responsibilities
  • To act as principal point of contact for electrical building services within the team as part of engineering consulting duties for projects from inception to final project delivery.
  • To deliver work within project fee budget, to manage resources, control costs and change control to ensure financial success and client satisfaction.
  • To organise and prioritise work to meet deadlines through leadership and good team working.
  • Carry out technical and quality assessments; supervise and authorise work by others within the electrical building services discipline. Implement quality assurance system including quality and document control.
  • To liaise regularly with client(s), update progress and attend to queries and actions as they arise, ensuring client relationships are maintained and improved.
  • To encourage opportunities for further work both within Atkins and externally and integrate with other design disciplines to ensure successful projects.
