This role is based in Doncaster/Rotherham.

Responsible for the delivery of all cabling/fibre work on the SYDR project, for assisting in the management of the SYDR external construction team and for the management of external stakeholders (e.g., local authorities, other utilities, customer construction staff)

Key Results Area
?In conjunction with the management team, contribute to the management of the engineering staff within the Construction & Contracts area in order to ensure SYDR needs are met, services delivered against SLA?s.
?Manage and motivate the Construction & Contracts team, including PM reviews, one to one?s, team briefings, authorising annual leave, sickness, timesheets etc.
?Assess and verify the job packages received from the External Network Planners, via the Works Control, to ensure all relevant information is included. Determine feasibility and approximate time scale for works assist in programming and allocating work to appropriate personnel.
?Manage team H&S issues, Performance Management, provision of PPE, training and development.
?Deputise for the SYDR Construction Manager as required.
?Cover for the SYDR supervisors when they are on leave or off sick
?Represent the company with External bodies and regional HAUC?s/JUG?s i.e. regards to Councils / OLOs to ensure best deal for the Company.
?Provide day-to-day management of SCD (or other) cabling/fibre/jointing sub-contractor
?Ensure compliance with the noticing requirements under NRSWA to avoid fines.
?Investigation of insurance claims, gathering and presenting evidence to internal and external contacts.
?Manage the day to day interaction with external contractors to ensure works are completed to required standards and within agreed timescales.
?Deal with customer queries, faults and complaints.
?Liaise with procurement to maintain adequate stock levels and to ensure value/cost benefits and also ensure sufficient supplies for customer connections and projects.
?Authorisation of bill quantities and verification of invoices prior to payment
?Liaise and offer technical advice to rest of the SYDR team.
?Conduct quality checks on a regular basis to ensure quality and consistency of work.
?Ensure supervisors & sub-contractors produce complete, accurate and timely records (as-builts, test certificates etc.) in accordance with the requirements of the SYDR contract.
?Check and authorise works diaries, before invoices are raised.
?Instigate works from observations made on site visits to ensure plant is renewed or repaired to avoid faults, customer complaints and potential hazards.
?Collate & provide construction information for input to the SYDR project team
?Check and authorise submitted overtime and expenses for accuracy within D.O.A.

Knowledge/Skills and Experience
?Relevant management experience across external telecoms engineering
?On-depth knowledge of NRSWA legislation, diversionary works and the relevant Code of Practice
?In-depth knowledge of H&S legislation, CDM legislation and associated Company policies and procedures
?Comprehensive understanding of Kingston external national network
?People communication skills
?Negotiation skills
?In-depth knowledge of current network delivery methods including telecom civil build
?In-depth knowledge of claims procedures, including preparing Method of Repair Statements
?Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of:
?SYDR Project
?NRSWA
?Good knowledge and understanding of:
?KCOM policies and procedures
?Health & Safety at work act 1974
?Safety Passport
?NRSWA Supervisor qualification and accreditation
?IOSH ? Managing Safely
?In-depth knowledge of cable restoration methods and techniques, plant protection, civils construction and fibre optic testing
