Senior Import Clerk - To Commence March 2010 Wise Employment are pleased to advertise for our client, a Senior Import Clerk to start approx March 2010.This is to replace our current member of staff who will be returning to Germany next year. The position involves: * Monitoring & reviewing all container shipments to ensure smooth & timely operation * Registering container orders (including issuing LC’s & deposits) * Processing shipping documents, international payments, preparing customs entries * Preparing customs entries for shipping agent * Checking shipping costs / customs entries * Scheduling container deliveries * Reviewing/Issuing of daily/weekly reports * Checking delivery paperwork from our DC * Investigating and resolving issues (loading / price / cube) * Updating & monitoring of information onto our imports database (Access) * Raising & resolving claims with suppliers (UK & International) * Customs Tariff reviews * General Admin, correspondence & support within the import dept Full training in our processes will be given. However this is a key position within this busy department and the candidate must have the following skills: * Ability to pick things up quickly * Excellent attention to detail * Excellent accuracy and consistency of work * Good organisational skills with a methodical approach * Ability to multitask & prioritize workloads * Good knowledge of Microsoft Office (must include excel knowledge of formulas, formatting & sorting.Use of Access preferred but not essential) * Experience of imports (container/sea freight preferred), customs entries, international payments (LC, DP, TT) The ideal candidate will have a flexible approach to meet this demanding role.They must have the confidence to deal with a variety of people in a number of countries to resolve issues effectively, firmly but fairly to ensure good working relationships are maintained.The candidate must have excellent communication skills to ensure all correspondence is clear and concise. This department and indeed the Company is extremely busy, so the ability to multitask, but with accuracy, is essential. They will be working as part of a small team and the work will impact all aspects of the Import Department, so I cannot emphasise the need to maintain accuracy with high productivity. This position is permanent (subject to a 3 month temp-perm period).Hours are 8.45am to 5.30pm Monday to Friday. It is a salaried position with 20 days holiday + the normal bank holidays. (Total of 28 days)The salary is negotiable depending on experience. |
