Senior Managed Services Engineer (Network)
Job Summary:
Take ownership of and lead the technical implementation process for new client network projects and service development initiatives. To proactively monitor and manage all standard and non-standard client network services providing third line support and maintenance to ensure that service issues affecting our customers are dealt with in a timely and appropriate way. Actively initiate improvements to technical systems, processes and procedures.
Functional Accountabilities
*Service Implementation - take ownership of all new client network implementations including installation, configuration and user acceptance of core applications and new and non-standard implementations across all our service offerings. Provide proactive support to the implementation team, customers' technical staff and third party representatives throughout user acceptance, accreditation and go live stages. Take ownership of Service Specification document to ensure that all relevant information is documented during the project.
*Capacity Management - working with the Technical Operations Team Leader ensure that the capacity of all our services is proactively monitored and that future capacity requirements for new clients are understood and met.
*Commercial Support - provide support to commercial, sales and sales support teams on new proposals, providing technical validation of new proposals to help facilitate accurate proposal to clients
*Service Reporting - provide accurate monthly information as required by the Technical Operations Administrator for all Managed Services to enable the production of service reports and invoices.
*Change Management (where applicable) - raise change requests as required to enable the above accountabilities to be met. Where directed by the Technical Operations Manager takes ownership of the change process and change control. Present change requests with sufficient clarity to allow the appropriate authority to understand the reason for the change, the associated risk, the ease of regression and the implications of making or not making the change. Ensure that all fixes, enhancements and service improvements are fully tracked and implemented within appropriate timescales. Ensure that issues do not repeat themselves. Initiate improvements to the performance of our monitoring systems and procedures. Provide regular updates and reports as well as escalating potential issues to the Technical Operations Manager. Ensure that all stakeholders have a clear understanding of the process and are able to track their changes.
*Incident Management - where required proactively handle incident resolution demonstrating the ability to handle multiple concurrent service issues using escalation as and when required, whilst ensuring that colleagues and customers are kept fully informed of progress. Apply necessary systems diagnostics to formulate resolution plans, understanding when and how to escalate issues as appropriate to business needs.
*Security - demonstrate a clear understanding of the need for tight security controls and be conscious of security at all times. Raise appropriate alerts to the senior management team if you suspect any breach of security or security risk. Be familiar with the PCI standards and processed that are in use throughout the department.
*Service Development - support the continuous improvement of the Managed Services proposition through the ongoing enhancement and development of existing services and the development and testing of new ones.
*Technical Architecture - assist with the technical network architecture and applied design of The Logic Group's transaction processing products, within the boundaries set by the business, on the technical direction of our products, providing the technical input from the development team in these decisions. Continuously review proactively the network architecture and implementation of existing solutions. Assist with the Architecture of new and the re-architecture of existing network solutions as needed
Person Specification
QualificationsRequired : Technical degree or appropriate professional qualification - CCNA / CCNP / CCSP - with applied experience
Preferred : BSc in relevant subject or equivalent experience, relevant Linux and Windows qualifications
Experience Required:
Network Admin - Experience of setting up and administrating DHCP, DNS, SSL PKI Certificate enrolment. Must have knowledge of capacity monitoring, planning and creation of service reports on trends. Must have working knowledge of fault diagnosis including root cause analysis and remediation report writing.
Strong experience with Linux and Windows operating systems.
Experience of how Linux and MS Windows use TCP/IP networking and how each OS is setup
Network Services - Working knowledge of how FTP, SFTP and FTPS is setup and administered. Knowledge of time synchronisation across a network.
Working knowledge of how applications are distributed across networks (SMS, Linux satellite server, Network security and user authentication
Network Hardware - Comprehensive experience of Cisco product range Routers and Switches, VPN Concentrators, ASA Firewall/Router.
Documentation - Should be proficient in producing system designs using an off the shelf package such as Visio.
Experience teaching / mentoring team members / peers
Preferred :
Experience providing technical support and client take on to critical systems supporting major blue chip customers
