Senior Mechanical Engineer (Structural Integrity)Defence is a progressive and rapidly expanding part of the Atkins group, providing high end technical and project management services to the MOD and principal defence companies. Our team in Derby requires Engineers with demonstrable structural integrity assessment experience to deliver a range of technically challenging projects.
In addition to your technical expertise, you will use your understanding of mechanical engineering principles and methods to find cost effective solutions to problems. Successful candidates will have a desire to be challenged and to contribute to the success of the business.

Requirements
Degree qualified or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline, Chartered Engineers with considerable experience in the following:
Stress analysis (hand calculation, ASME III) Finite Element techniques (preferably Abaqus, Ansys or LS-DYNA) Fatigue and fracture assessment Thermal analysis Due to the nature of work undertaken at our client's site, incumbents of these positions are required to meet special nationality rules and therefore these vacancies are only open to sole British Citizens. Applicants who meet this criterion will also be required to undergo security clearance vetting, if not already security cleared to a minimum SC level.
Responsibilities
As a successful applicant, you will be expected to:
Manage delivery of your projects to Time, Cost and Quality requirements. Identify, produce and supervise production of appropriate analyses and calculations to demonstrate acceptable performance or highlight design issues. Support our QA process through review and approval of colleagues' work. Lead presentations of our work to clients. Lead requirements capture activities to identify the scope of work required. Work mostly in small teams, but also independently at times. This may include spending time on our clients' sites. Take responsibility for your own work, maintain our reputation and identify future work opportunities.
