Senior Mechanical Inspection Engineer (Contract)
Rate: NegDuration: circa 2 years
A new contract position has arisen within this Petrochemical/ Refinery in Scotland, starting asap and lasting around 2 years with a possibility of a permanent role after this period.
The role:
Plan and deliver mechanical inspections to achieve full compliance with legal requirements, site inspection standards and business goals for asset integrity, costs and productivity.
Manage team of inspectors covering 4000+ inspections per year across several process plants and with a multi-million pound budget.
Certify all Written Schemes of Examination to confirm they meet legislative requirements and site inspection and integrity standards.
Recommend repairs to restore fit for purpose condition and assign inspection intervals to achieve legal compliance and business integrity goals.
Approve all inspection reports for the area to confirm that they meet legislative requirements and site inspection and integrity standards.
Provide an inspection service to Projects, Major overhauls and Turnarounds.
Detailed knowledge and expertise of the inspection module of the Maintenance Management system (Maximo).
Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills
HNC or HND + significant experience of design, fabrication, maintenance and operation of all mechanical equipment types.
Incorporated Engineer or equivalent.
Extensive engineering experience and demonstrable experience of inspecting pipework and vessels on a high hazard refining and petrochemicals manufacturing site.
The jobholder will need to inspect a range of mechanical equipment as the competent person defined in the Pressure Systems Safety Regulations 2000 in order to judge condition and fitness for purpose for further periods of service in accordance with company standards, National Design Codes and PSSR 2000.
Knowledge of routine non destructive testing techniques, an appreciation of specialist NDT techniques and an understanding of materials and corrosion mechanisms.
