A global Medical Education Agency in Berkshire needs a Senior Medical Editor:

·To assist in the production of high-quality educational materials for pharmaceutical clients.

·To manage the progression of jobs from approved copy to print stage, ensuring that optimum communication is achieved through effective use of words and design.

·To assist in the control of workflow within the Editorial Department, ensuring the Department operates efficiently and that deadlines are met.

Education & Experience

You should have:

·A science degree.

·Extensive editorial experience in scientific publishing, including medical communications.

·Familiarity with a wide range of materials, including exhibitions, stage-sets, meetings,

‘own-events’, pitch presentations and multimedia – and extensive layout experience.

·Excellent copy-editing and proofing skills (to a standard appropriate for QC checking).

·Aptitude for critical review of copy, questioning client/author corrections.

·Demonstrated ability in training/supervising junior editorial staff.

·Coaching, mentoring and motivational skills.

·Ideally, line-management, interviewing and recruitment experience.

·Ability to delegate effectively.

·Flexible attitude – adapting to ever-changing priorities, providing full project-management cover for team-members during holidays etc.

·Budgetary awareness/ability to provide accurate hours estimates for jobs.

·Proven ability to work on multiple projects and deliver to tight deadlines.

·Ability to handle own projects and work as part of an editorial/client team.

·Excellent project/time management and organisational skills.

·Ability to remain calm under pressure.

·Excellent interpersonal/communication skills.

·Extensive knowledge of print/production procedures.

·IT skills (including advanced Word, advanced Powerpoint, Reference Manager, Internet, email).
