A major European Insurance company based in Reading are looking for a Senior Regional Underwriter to work as part of the South West Regional Underwriting team. The company offer a wide range of insurance products for individuals and small to medium sized businesses, all of which are distributed exclusively through a network of UK intermediaries.
The purpose of the role will be to significantly contribute to the profitable development of regional commercial business by case underwriting new business risks and actively managing renewals. Specific responsibilities include:
*Developing and supporting the commercial account by engaging and encouraging new and existing relationships with regional brokers
*Ensuring technical underwriting rates and criteria are accurately applied to all risks
*Managing and leading a team of Regional Trading Underwriters and Regional Underwriting Assistants
*Contributing towards the achievement of the company's annual financial plan

The successful candidate must have:
A sound understanding of general Insurance underwriting principles
A detailed understanding and experience of the commercial property and liability market
The ability to assess technical risk, apply that knowledge and make decisions within authority level
The ability to communicate and support at all levels

Salary: 35,000-40,000 depending on experience
