Leading by example take responsibility for the development standards of the Web team as well as creating interfaces, interface elements and supporting materials for cutting-edge web based applications. Cross-browser support and professional presentation is essential skills to this role. You will be focusing on all design stages from graphical concepts through to navigational/interface structures through to development of the front end interface code. The work is challenging, creative, fast paced and intellectually stimulating. Core Responsibilities:
•Responsible for the technical components and approach including graphics, animation and functionality
•To develop web page infrastructure and application related to pages with more advanced graphics and features.
•Responsible for the quality standards covering the front end build within the development team which includes communication and enforcement of the agreed coding standards.
•Create and execute project work plans and revises as appropriate to meet changing needs and business requirements.
•Manages resources within budget and project schedule.
•Review the workload of the team to ensure that resourcing is skilled to the required level and is aligned with the development tasks / objectives.
•Act as an internal consultant and apply best practice across the front end delivery with a strong focus on the usability and functionality of Web application design.
Skill Set Required:
•In depth ASP, JSP, JavaScript, CSS and (X) HTML knowledge
•Strong database knowledge specifically SQL Server or MySQL
•Web / Graphical Design skills would be desirable.
•A flexible attitude with proven experience of working in a small team.
•A minimum of 3+ years of experience in website and web application development.
•Excellent written and oral communication skills; confident, friendly, with good
•Strong problem solving skills, adaptable, proactive and willing to take ownership.
•Advanced understanding of Google Analytics, Adwords and Website Optimiser
•Experience of Content Management systems; eZ Publish preferred
•Expert use of Photoshop
•Expert understanding of organic SEO techniques
Specific Knowledge Required:
•Having worked in a utility provider would be beneficial but not a prerequisite.
•A good understanding of IDEs used to produce web applications and sites
•A good understanding of source control (e.g. SVN), collaborative tools (e.g. TeamWorkLive), bug tracking (e.g. Bugzilla), etc.
•Proven Web and Database Development experience.
•Expert understanding of W3C Web standards including an understanding of accessibility and its issues with regards to web development
•Expert understanding of and extensive experience in HTML, XHTML and CSS hand coding skills:, plus JavaScript & AJAX
Educational Requirements:
•Graduate degree preferably in web technology, web design, computer science or relevant field.
