We are a recruitment company and we are looking for an experienced Sheltered Housing Officer on a contract basis for our client.
JOB PURPOSE
To promote the independence, dignity, choices, security, equal opportunities and well being of Housing
Care Services customers and, in liaison with other services, to provide information, practical, social and
emotional support, and encourage social activity.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
To visit Housing Care Services customers to provide:
Positive social contact;
A flexible response to their needs via practical, social and emotional support;
Advice and information to the customer, their families and carers.
To assess the needs of Sheltered housing customers:
To refer any concerns to a Sheltered Housing Officer and / or an appropriate support service;
To liaise with other agencies in planning and providing support to Housing Services customers.
To create, maintain and update all records accurately and to record and receipt the handling of all cash or property as required by the procedures, keeping all information confidential and in accordance with the Data Protection Act.
To test and operate Housing Services equipment and to report faults immediately to ensure risks
to customers are minimised.
To be responsible for the security of all keys issued by Housing Services, including the Community
Room Master Key and to have them available for use at all times when on duty.
To administer First Aid in an emergency and to provide practical and emotional support until a relative
or appropriate service take over.
To assist with all aspects of the use of Common Rooms, particularly in relation to security and Health
and Safety procedures.
To act in an advisory capacity regarding allocations of Sheltered Housing properties when required, and
to assist in the letting of the properties.
To read, understand and carry out all duties and responsibilities as required in the Procedure Manual
(see attached) and to undertake any other duties commensurate with the position as designated by the
Line Manager.
To ensure that reasonable care is taken at all times for the health, safety and welfare of yourself and
other persons, and to comply with all Health and Safety Policies and Procedures.
In carrying out the duties of the post you must have regard to the Council's Customer Service Policy
and guidelines.
