Job Position:Senior Diesel Calibration Engineer (Driveability)
Job Status:Permanent staff
Qualifications:
A strong engineering background and a Degree/HND in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
The Role:
Team member responsible for base engine calibration development projects to achieve new levels of emissions legislation, fuel economy targets and application requirements. Opportunities exist at all levels of skills and experience.
Essential Experience:
Candidates should have considerable experience of diesel engine fundamentals &
automotive electric/electronics, including experience of Tier I supplier engine
management systems, interface tools & software.
Direct experience in idle speed control, driveability functions and /or engine speed governing essential
Able to develop analytical tools (scripts for Matlab and/or macros for Excel).
Responsibilities:
The main duties will include:
Test bed & machine integration engine calibration activities, including climatic testing, to meet Tier IV 'Off-Highway' emissions legislation.
Model based control system calibration Speed governor (Idle, all speed and high idle) calibration.
Areas of calibration responsibilities could include:
. Model based torque coordination.
. Air Path, boosting and EGR.
. Idle and all speed governor.
. CAN based integration with other machine control modules.
. Cold start development.
Writing development plans, including resource requirements and engineering reports.
Supervision of junior engineers & technicians.
Developing testing and sign-off procedures to facilitate the continual improvement of departmental effectiveness.
Basic Hours:39hrs / week 08:00 to 17:00 (13.00 on Fridays)
Salary/Rate:£35k to £45K depending on experience
