This is a fantastic opportunity to join one of Europe’s largest specialist media publishers who currently produce over 70 leading classified titles, run a selection of popular and profitable websites and operate several high-volume printing businesses.
They are looking for a member of staff to work along side the Systems Administration team, reporting to the IT Systems Manager, focusing on the deployments of applications into their environments.
Functions and Responsibilities:
- Liaise with relevant operational staff to plan and perform deployments
- Update and maintain the relevant application properties files
- To work flexibly around deployment times
- To follow defined processes & procedures
- Accountability for any changes made to the application-specific configuration data
- Any other duties as and when required
Technical Skills:
- User-level experience of Unix (preferably Red Hat Linux)
- Shell scripting
- Basic analytical and problem solving skills
- Ability to pick up new technologies
Personal Skills:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to communicate ata range of levels
- Good timekeeping, including work prioritisation with minimal supervision
- The ability to work under pressure to tight timescales.
- Attention to detail, specifically relating to following documentation in order to minimise mistakes
- Ability to liaise with technical experts from other disciplines
Desirable Miscellaneous Skills:
- Foundation Certificate in IT Service Management (ITIL)
- Full driving license, valid in UK.
Desirable Skills:
-Appreciation of Apache and JBoss web server technologies
Hours of work/ Days of work: Monday-Friday, 9:00-5:30 (plus out of hours work where required)
To be successful you must be have a reasonable level experience of Unix, knowledge of internet technologies and the ability to work to deadlines.
