Sports Equipment Claims Handlers
As sports insurance claims handler, you'll deal with every aspect of a sports insurance claim on behalf of Intersports clients. A claim is usually the result of loss caused by events such as fire, flood, theft or accidental loss. If our client is insured and the policy conditions are met, they will receive replacement sports equipment via the network of Intersport stores.
You will handle the whole process, from first notice to final payment. You will face different challenges during the claims process. You'll handle the relevant documentation, ensure that the process runs smoothly, that the insurance company settles in the correct manner and your client receives their equipment quickly and in a professional manner.
Your routine tasks are likely to include:
Liaising with the insured party validate their sports equipment claim
Work with the insurance company and loss adjusters to ensure the claim is genuine – exercised by using your excellent knowledge of sports
Ensuring a fair settlement for the client in the event of a claim
Communicating via telephone with insurance companies to ensure that the clients are receiving a quality service
Advising clients on the replacement process in general.
Hours and Environment
Your working hours will mainly be 9 - 5, possibly with some extra hours at busy time.
You'll be mostly office based, with some visits to insurance companies and clients. The job involves handling many phone calls from policyholders, insurance companies and stores.
Skills and Interests
To be a sports equipment claims handler you'll need:
An excellent knowledge of different sports and this will be tested at interview - applicants will not be considered if they do not meet this criteria as a priority.
The ability to absorb sports equipment technical information
Excellent telephone manner and enjoy handling a high volume of telephone calls. Experience of this nature and or telesales experience is a distinct advantage
The ability to make decisions

Show that you are a dedicated sportsperson who excels in competitive sports
Ability to use a bespoke validation database
Good interpersonal and communication skills
A working knowledge of sports in general and sports equipment
Training
Your initial training scheme will teach you the skills to use the database and processes to fulfil your duties successfully. Sports equipment knowledge will be passed on an ongoing basis.
It will tend to be on the job, working with more experienced colleagues and familiarising yourself with different departments and their functions, such as accounts etc.
You may also be required to attend short courses covering areas such as: understanding the world of insurance; communication skills and customer care.
