FUNCTION DESCRIPTION
The Statutory Reporting and Taxation Group in Edinburgh is responsible for all aspects of the preparation and issuance of interim, final and other financial statements of the collective vehicles serviced by IS Edinburgh on behalf of its clients. The Group is also responsible for the production and issuance of interim and final distribution rates.
The Statutory Accountant is an integral member of the Statutory Accounts and Taxation Team whose primary responsibilities relate to the production of financial statements together with the calculation of interim and final distribution rates. This role provides the opportunity to work across a number of different clients which are serviced by the department.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational
- Production of accurate financial statements in SORP format, supported by relevant schedules, compiled to an audit standard
- Production of interim and final distribution rates
- Preparation of reconciliations to NAV calculations for audit purposes
- Preparation of tax provisions and audit standard tax pack
- Preparation of Regulatory Returns and other client work as allocated by team leader
Control/Risk
- Compliance with standard procedures, as well as regulatory guidelines
- Liaison with fund accounting teams, oversight teams and other relevant personnel to ensure timely production and audit of financial statements
- Liaison with auditors, depositary and clients during audit process
- Escalate issues to team leader/manager
Client/Service Delivery
- Primary responsibility will be for specified clients, although flexibility to work across other clients is essential
- Adopt flexible approach to ensure client deadlines are met
- Ability to work flexibly on a range of client funds as required

Areas of Technical Knowledge /Relevant Experience
- Preferably part qualified ACCA/CIMA or Accountancy based degree
- Demonstrable skills/ knowledge within the fund services industry
- Awareness of accounting principles and standards, relating to UK Collective Investment Vehicles
- PC skills, in particular Excel
