Support Network Technician – Bedfordshire – Up to £27,000 + benefits – Active Directory, MS Exchange, SharePoint (MOSS)
Support Network Technician needed for one of the UK’s leading software solutions providers in the Not for Profit sector.This is an exceptional opportunity for candidate with good knowledge of industry standard Microsoft applications such as Active Directory, Exchange, SharePoint and IT infrastructure.
The Support Network Technician provides support to one of the company’s key products, an online platform which is hosted by them, the key objective is to maintain secure and sustainable infrastructure that delivers these products direct to the end user (not for profit organisations and educational establishments).
RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Contributing to maintaining the hosted solutions platform ensuring high availability of the service.
2. Monitoring platform usage including, memory usage, CPU usage and ISA logs daily in order to report any increased activity to the Senior Hosted Solutions Network Technician.
3. Liaising with key members of staff to ensure product knowledge is kept up to date and building internal relationships
4. Working alongside the Data Centre Infrastructure Specialist to ensure storage hardware is provisioned and configured in line with vendor best practices.
5. Working alongside the Data Centre Infrastructure Specialist to maintain a replication environment in order to trial upgrades and to provide a platform in the event of needing to investigate an issue for the live platform.
6. Application of Active Directory Provisioning Service upgrades to the replication environment and to the live environment (out of hours).
7. Attending Project Meetings to provide input and advice in relation to experiences on the Hosted platform.
8. Maintain supporting infrastructure documentation for the Hosted platform.
9. Share knowledge and experience with team members to increase the level of customer support the team can provide.
10. Support the business in reviewing and planning for additional services / enhancements that can be included to the Hosted solution.
As Support Network Technician you will ideally need (some skills can be learnt if not know, but candidates should have a good level of knowledge of the majority listed below):
1. Experience and knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory
2. Familiar with Microsoft Exchange 2003 / 2007
3. Knowledge and experience of Microsoft Office SharePoint Server (Moss2007)
4. Excellent understanding of industry standard Microsoft applications.
5. Knowledge and experience of Internet Information Services
6. Installation/usage and/or problem solving of:
a. Microsoft Windows Server 2000 / 2003 /2008
b. Windows XP /Vista / Windows 7
c. Microsoft SQL Server 2005
d. Internet connectivity
e. Microsoft ISA Server 2006
f. Microsoft Virtual PC and/or VMware
g. IIS and SSL certificates
7. Knowledge in growing enterprise platforms / systems / services
8. Knowledge of internal business processes
9. Experience of VPN solutions
