Swim are looking for a Community Development Worker to work to Support Families in Leicester for the next 2-3 months.
The role will be to:
1. Co-ordinates the Supporting Families and Parents Team.
2. Encourages and enables partnership working with local families through a community development approach, promoting parent participation.
3. Supports and enables parents and the local community to become involved in the identification of need, development, delivery and management of the Sure Start programme, ensuring parents from all groups and areas of the childrens centre network are supported to be active members of the Board, Parent Forum and other groups.
4. Works with other Sure Start/Children Centre team members to recruit, train and support volunteers to participate in all levels of the Sure Start/Children Centre programme.
5. Develops links with existing community groups in order to identify need and maximise opportunities for families within the Sure Start area.
6. Works with the Sure Start/Children Centre team to identify minorities who might find accessing the programme difficult such as support younger parents, fathers etc.
7. Develops and supports services for identified minorities which target and work to break down the barriers to access. Investigate a sensitive sign posting route to services for substance abuse, domestic violence and young parents group.
8. Participates on the City Wide Community Development forum.
