Business Unit Manager (Trading) – Leading FMCG Organisation
Location: West Yorkshire
Salary £80,000 - £100,000 + excellent benefits

The Role
·To agree & deliver the margin targets, to maximise sales & develop market share within my category
·To develop, forecast & manage the budget for a category
·To manage supplier negotiations to enable the delivery of products & promotions that are competitively priced & meet margin and sales targets
·To manage suppliers to optimise value and operational efficiencies around product sourcing, supply, availability and packaging
·To develop & deliver a category plan that has profitable ranges and promotions
·To work with stakeholders to manage stock, availability, waste and markdowns for all the product ranges in the category.
·To review working practises to ensure standards are met & improvements/efficiencies are made.
·To ensure effective communication to all areas of the business regarding the category.
·To ensure that products & ranges are sourced in line with company values.
·To provide support and product expertise to meet the corporate strategy
·Develop strategic supplier relationships that go beyond day to day negotiation and deliver true long term value to the business
·To provide focus and motivation to the team and the wider business unit to ensure the business goals are effectively communicated, along with clear goals and individual targets/objectives
·To develop the talent within the team by coaching and supporting individuals with their personal and professional development so that there is the capability to deliver current and future plans.
·To ensure compliance with legal, operational and brand standards.
The Person
·Proven expertise in a buying role & a track record of successful category management
·Strong people management skills, to include performance management & talent development
·An analytical thinker with the ability to manage multiple data points and develop reasoned responses to problems
·Proven & tested commercial acumen
·An understanding of supply chain and promotions mechanics
·In-depth project management skills
·Proven track record of influencing and negotiation with suppliers
·Strong numerical and analytical skills
