Description:
We are one of the UK's largest supermarket chains. However, it is a lesser known fact that with our own vertically integrated food manufacturing operations, consisting of over a dozen sites spread across the country, we are also the UK’s fifth largest food processor. We have bread bakeries, meat processing sites, abattoirs, fresh produce packhouses and a fresh food factory, each with their own dedicated technical resource where we process and prepare much of the fresh food that we sell. This enables us to achieve our goal of being the Food Specialists for Everyone.
We are currently looking to recruit a Trainee Procurement and Production Technologist to join our busy Fresh Produce Technical Team in Bradford.
You will work closely with our trading and manufacturing colleagues to drive continuous, measurable and sustainable improvements to site product quality, factory standards and technical quality systems. This enables us to produce products that are safe, legal, ethical and successful. To be successful in this position you will need to be a team player with a “can do” mindset, excellent attention to detail and strong influencing and communication skills in order to drive the quality culture throughout the business.
Desirable but not essential is a degree in agriculture, horticulture, food science or related discipline and a formal HACCP qualification. Experience of working within a fresh produce or food manufacturing environment with knowledge of fresh produce gained in a grower, supplier or retail environment is advantageous.
An intermediate or advanced Food Safety qualification and a good understanding of IS0 22000 food safety standards are also desirable. You must have a full driving licence. Travel is an essential part of the role job and overnight stays will be necessary.
