As a provider of multi-disciplined technical services to the built environment, Atkins is committed to design excellence in the delivery of first class solutions which combine, innovation, imagination and best practice. We now require a Utilities Design Manager who will assist in the growth of the business at all stages in the entire procurement cycle of feasibility work, option generation, outline design, and detailed design of Utilities for Infrastructure projects. The role will based in our Al AIn office and will also involve linking with other infrastructure inputs from other parts of the business such as highways, bridges and civil works and effectively manage the Utilities team
Requirements
Technical CompetenciesEssential BSc.Engineering Degree Chartered status or equivalent and/or recognised post-graduate professional equivalent qualification 10-15 years "hands-on" Infrastructure experience with a wealth of successful management experience from a consultancy background Computer-aided design (or at least a proven applied working knowledge of) Working knowledge of M&E sufficient to liaise with M&E specialists Report preparation - Working in teams
- Measurement and calculation for cost estimates, bills of quantity, and tender document preparation
- Current driving licence
Desirable Computer-aided design Water and Waste Water treatment Process engineering ICT and Communications Networks Medium to Low Voltage Electrical Networks including Street lighting Working with contractors
Responsibilities
Day to day technical direction of the Utilities team for infrastructure projects, as directed by the Infrastructure Director to ensure high quality, cost-effective, and timely delivery of projects so assigned. Understanding the business's goals and to help to meet them. Understanding the project imperatives (i.e. ‘output' required) and prioritise workload (‘input') to meet the objectives. Proactively striving toward identifying efficiencies, and generating improvements to contribute to the Department as a whole Preparation of reports, technical proposals and fee estimates, programme / project management, fee management, expenditure control. Candidates should be able to follow up on leads associated with new and existing clients and identify and encourage the generation of new services. Working with other Atkins engineers across the UAE in advancing our technical capability to the highest standard. This will include identifying innovative approaches and techniques. Proactively striving toward improvements in innovations and efficiencies. Assisting in the development of staff.
