Role

Working as part of a team, the successful candidate will be engaged in all stages of website / web design and development; working on projects such as online booking systems, online shops, multi-language websites, and other content-managed websites / applications.

The PHP Web Developer will also be involved in structural planning, creative ideas and visualization, as well as HTML programming, PHP programming and database design. The PHP Web Developer will attend client briefing / scoping meetings (with the Sales Director /Project Manager) to provide input from a technical perspective. The PHP Web Developer will work within the Development Team. You will be expected to contribute to the combined knowledge of the Development Team through collaboration and training (both ad hoc and pre-arranged sessions). It is expected that the Senior PHP Web Developer will take a lead role within the Development Team, and will make a significant contribution to the improving and advancing the technical quality of the team’s delivered work.

Role – Key Accountabilities

  • Creating database-driven websites, extranets/intranets and online applications
  • Adhering to general web, accessibility and company development standards
  • Validating and testing websites
  • Technical input during client meetings
  • Technical planning for projects
  • Contributing to Developer meetings and development standards

Person Specification

Technical / Professional Expertise

  • Demonstrate web development experience for multiple projects
  • Have experience of using Zend Framework or similar
  • Be able to demonstrate a thorough knowledge of PHP
  • Be experienced in Object Oriented programming or equivalent
  • Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of HTML,CSS & Zend Frame or similar
  • Thorough knowledge of JavaScript including AJAX
  • Fully conversant with database construction, in particular using MySQL
  • Ability to build and work with Web services or equivalent
  • Able to work to the standards for web development and accessibility
  • Interpret briefing document and produce a functional / technical specifications
  • Demonstrate the ability to create a website /web applications
  • Knowledge of PhotoShop / Fireworks, etc. for graphics manipulation / slicing or similar
  • Dealing directly with clients, including attending client meetings

It is desirable for the applicant to have:

  • Experience of building and working with Multi-User Content Management Systems
  • An understanding of how to write secure PHP code
  • Knowledge of Zend Frame
  • Experience of Search Engine Optimisation techniques
  • Experience of developing in Flash /Actionscript
  • Experience of training other developers
  • Appreciation of design
