An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full time Web Designer & Developer to join a full-service agency that takes a strategic and creative approach to design, marketing, digital media, public relations and communications across private, public and voluntary sectors.
The successful applicant must have over 1 year industry experience and a strong portfolio. Previous design agency experience is also an advantage.
The candidate must have full working knowledge of XHMTL, CSS, PHP, MySQL, Flash and working with Adobe Photoshop.
The role will be varied and allow the successful applicant to make their own mark.
Duties to include:
- Designing websites from initial concept through to the fully working site
- Applying design changes to websites & text updates
- Building and updating PHP/MySQL database driven websites
- Providing technical support to clients and other staff
- Other Internet orientated office based work
Any experience in Flex, JQuery, Ajax, SEO, video editing and designing for mobile web would also be an advantage but not essential.

PHP / MySQL Developer - CMS, RSS, XML – Manchester City Centre – Salary 20-25k
My client is a multi-platform UK-based media Group consisting of many companies collected around two main divisions – Magazines and Radio - widely recognised and rewarded as being industry innovators.
Collectively, the Group employs some 6,400 people and has a 2007 turnover of 1.79 billion Euros.
They are now on the lookout for a mid level PHP back end developer to join the Central Web Team with skills in MySQL, experience in development of bespoke CMS Systems, knowledge of the Zend framework and Smarty. The team consists of 3 designers who are advanced in the HTML, CSS and design aspects, 1 content editor and the development manager so the need is really focused on the PHP back end and MySQL skills using a lot of RSS and XML feeds. Actionscript / Flash will also be required.
Essential skills: PHP, OO Programming, XML, RSS feeds, CMS, MySQL, ActionScript.
Desirable skills include: HTML, CSS, JavaScript all to W3C standards and accessibility standards.
You must have a commercial background of around 2 years preferably in a media / digital environment
If you have worked on projects related to ITunes or on any flash based MP3 stream media this would be of huge benefit. Communication skills are vital in this type of environment as you will probably be liaising with other internal departments, agencies and sales people.
