Job Function and Objectives:
The Quality improvement Engineer should have proven Quality experience within a precision manufacturing environment with skills in production/process improvement techniques and ISO quality systems.
Good interpersonal skills and tenacious, with the ability to work effectively as a team member and provide a Quality lead and direction to diverse teams are essential requirements for this role.
Main Duties and Key Features:
·Comply with all company policies and procedures including Health, Safety & Environmental
·Provide day-to-day support to all departments assisting a company culture change to move away from “Inspecting in” to right first time quality.
·Develop suitable data acquisition and analysis (SPC) for use in continuous improvement activities.
·Have an in-depth working knowledge of quality management systems such as ISO9001: 2000 and actively participate in internal and external audits.
·Lead effective 5Y/8D root cause analysis and drive timely and sustainable corrective actions raised from internal/external (including customer) non conformities.
·Use consistent structured methodology such as PDCA & The Six Sigma DMAIC process to implement problem solving projects and co-ordinate these activities involving Quality, Continuous Improvement and other team personnel.
·Involvement in QA and CI training and development of individuals and teams in order to enhance performance and operational effectiveness.
·Assist the Coordinator in ensuring effective quality assurance practices are implemented to analyse performance (i.e scrap, re-work, non standards etc) and develop effective means of reducing same.
·Introduce Quality improvements, developing preventative measures PFMEA/PokeYoke and specify/purchase appropriate QA equipment and/or upgrade existing inspection equipment to optimise process and improve quality product throughput.
·Liaise with all internal departments and suppliers resolving Quality issues and work closely with suppliers to improve performance.
·Team member and leading CI activities and events, including 5S, VSM, Visual management and set-up reductions etc.
·Quantifying the results of Quality and Continuous improvements for productivity and financial benefits.
Suggested qualifications:
Educated to ONC/HNC/degree level or equivalent in a Mechanical Engineering subject.
Quality, Lean Manufacturing and Six sigma trained/qualified desirable.
