A number of Programme Sourcing Management and Commodity Management opportunities currently exist for seasoned and experienced supply chain professionals. Whilst the positions have no direct reports they do require a significant degree of influencing skill as the success of these positions will depend on an individual's ability to build consensus, gain support and achieve successful implementation of initiatives.
Ideally you will have operated within a commercial role in a large multi division organisation, have experience of introducing new suppliers and project managements skills. In addition it is preferred that this experience will have been in the manufacturing industry, in a technical environment and have included global sourcing. The roles are as follows:
Commodity Managers:
Responsible for defining and implementing commodity strategies to deliver benefit to the business and ensure continuity of supply. The Commodity Manager will also provide direction to the Programme Sourcing Managers during the selection of suppliers on new programmes.
Duties will include:
- Managing relationships with key suppliers
- Analysing & interpreting spend and performance data
- Researching the supply market and understanding business drivers
- Managing the development of the commodity strategy
- Understanding key supplier capability and capacity
- Managing the development of suppliers
- Identifying and monitoring benefit delivery
- Leading sourcing related improvement projects
- Supporting Programme Sourcing Managers with contract negotiation and performing contract reviews with suppliers
- Managing the implementation of strategies through close working relationships with the individual business functions.
Programme Sourcing Managers:
Responsible for identifying and establishing supply chains for new programmes and working with the appropriate businesses functions to achieve a robust transfer from product development into volume production.
In addition, the Programme Sourcing Manager will provide support to the Commodity Managers to implement best practice strategic sourcing principles across a number of commodities.
Duties will include:
- Developing and embedding supply chain strategies for new programmes in line with the individual commodity strategies and technology roadmap.
- Delivering to, or better, the target costs used to formulate the original purchased item pricing.
- Supporting commodity managers with contract negotiation and performing contract reviews with suppliers
- Managing the implementation of strategies through close working relationships with the individual business functions.
- Provide the interface between the programme IPT’s and the Commodity Managers
- Coordinate supplier involvement in the IPT’s to reduce costs.
