UK Register Study Manager
Salary range £28,954 – 35,009 per annum inclusive
The MRC Clinical Trials Unit undertakes national and international studies to assess the value of medical interventions in a variety of disease areas including cancer, HIV and other diseases such as osteoarthritis, diabetes and TB.
A Study Manager position has arisen within the Clinical Operations Group of the Unit. The post holder will provide research support to the Senior Epidemiologist, Clinical Project Manager, Steering Committee and External Collaborators by undertaking operational management of an observational study.
Your responsibility is to manage the study on a day-to-day-basis and ensure it runs smoothly and continues to respond appropriately in its specific objectives to changes in HIV management and care. You needs to ensure that reporting of newly infected individuals continues, data for all patients already recruited are collated, and to maintain good working relationships with staff at collaborating sites and national organisations, ensuring that all new staff are aware of the study, its timelines and overall objectives.
The main duties of the post, in collaboration with the Senior Epidemiologist, are ensuring good accrual of patients and follow up, reviewing the registration and follow up forms for completeness and accuracy, examining the study database to identify potentially unreported subjects and missing data, and ensuring data quality is optimal. Duties also include managing the flow of forms for data entry, checking and query resolution, visiting clinical centres to complete registration and follow up forms, co-ordinating the collection of blood specimens and advising on database changes and improvements.
You should have a first degree in a science subject or equivalent. A relevant postgraduate qualification and an understanding of the epidemiology of HIV infection are both desirable.Candidates should also have experience in the management of clinical research studies, excellent communication and interpersonal skills; possess initiative and creativity and the ability to work effectively in a team.
Benefits include 30 days annual leave days per year, a contributory pension scheme and an interest free season ticket loan. Salary includes Location Allowance and Central London Supplement. The salary is dependent on previous experience and will be negotiable for exceptional candidates.
