Corporate Partnerships Manager

Reporting to Assistant Director of Fundraising & Marketing
Supported by Fundraising Development Assistant (approx. 25% of their time)

Main Purpose of Post

  • To manage, monitor and develop existing Rainbow Trust corporate partnerships activity and deliver on agreed income targets
  • To identify and secure new corporate partnerships to meet an agreed new business income target
  • To be responsible for the corporate fundraising strategy, planning and income and expenditure budgets
  • To develop and implement an effective cause related marketing strategy for Rainbow Trust
  • To help to achieve the team’s financial and non-financial objectives

Key Tasks

Account management (35% of workload)

  • To manage and support all existing corporate partnerships, providing day-to-day support for corporate partners. These include local, regional and national companies such as Hamleys, Boden and BBC Southern Counties Radio
  • To shape and implement Rainbow Trust’s new charity of the year adoptions such as Cameron McKenna
  • To develop effective and mutually beneficial fundraising programmes with existing corporate partners to ensure the maximum return from our relationship with them. In particular to develop cause related marketing propositions with a number of these partners
  • To manage the expectations of corporate partners and to maintain clear lines of communication with them
  • To manage and maintain efficient day-to-day administration of all corporate fundraising activity
  • To monitor and evaluate all corporate partnerships and take action where necessary to achieve income targets
  • To ensure all company contacts are invited to relevant Rainbow Trust events where appropriate
  • To plan and manage time in a cost effective manner, ensuring that all efforts are focused on activities which maximise the potential for income and awareness raising
  • To develop strong relationships with corporate partners and to encourage corporate partners to work with Rainbow Trust in the future
  • To prepare and monitor income and expenditure budgets for all corporate fundraising activity

Business Development (50% of workload)

  • To research and identify new business opportunities
  • To work with the Assistant Director of Fundraising to implement new business activity, identify major new partnership opportunities and prepare new business pitches and proposals
  • To develop a cause related marketing strategy and work with Rainbow Trust’s contacts and existing supporters to implement it and bring new corporate partners on board
  • To apply for, pitch, win and manage charity of the year and employee fundraising adoptions
  • To work closely with the Special Events team to develop the contacts that attend Rainbow Trust special events and support sponsors. These events include the Rainbow Glass Slipper Ball
  • Where appropriate, to assess corporate fundraising proposals from external organisations
  • To reach an agreed new business income target

Miscellaneous

  • To participate in the continual review and development of corporate partnerships in conjunction with the Assistant Director of Fundraising
  • To monitor and feedback on competitor activity in corporate partnerships
  • To liaise with Rainbow Trust Care teams to identify suitable priority projects for funding in order to prepare compelling proposals and presentations
  • To implement and monitor best practice account management in relation to corporate partnerships
    Administration
  • To be fully conversant with all fundraising regulations and legal issues as they relate to corporate fundraising and to ensure that Rainbow Trust Children’s Charity comply with all relevant legislation
  • To produce and maintain accurate records of all income and expenditure
  • To produce regular contact reports and updates for internal and external tracking of partnership progress
  • To prepare regular activity reports for the Assistant Director of Fundraising
  • To develop and maintain organised administrative systems to maximise the efficiency of corporate fundraising activity
  • To maintain accurate database records
  • To ensure that requests for support from companies fundraising on behalf of Rainbow Trust Children’s Charity are dealt with quickly and efficiently
  • To ensure timely administration of income and timely dispatch of thank you letters relating to community and events fundraising

Representing Rainbow Trust Children’s Charity

  • To represent Rainbow Trust Children’s Charity and act as an ambassador for the charity corporate fundraising events, cheque collections and organised visits
  • To develop and prepare fundraising presentations
  • To attend all internal and external meetings as required. To attend meetings and events outside of office hours as required

Team Support

  • To work with other teams within Rainbow Trust Children’s Charity to develop and carry out cross marketing activities where appropriate
  • To be flexible in work approach to provide support on other projects within the wider fundraising team when necessary
  • To play a full and active role in developing a successful team working environment within the team, and the organisation as a whole
  • To manage any volunteers interested in supporting corporate partnerships
  • To undertake any other duties compatible with this post as directed by the Head of Fundraising Development

Person Specification

Corporate Partnerships Manager

Essential Knowledge

Knowledge of business-to-business account management practice and the underpinning principles of customer care
Educated to degree level or equivalent

Desirable Knowledge

Knowledge of up-to-date corporate fundraising techniques

Essential Experience

  • Experience of working within budget parameters and reporting on income and expenditure
  • Experience of project management and evaluation
  • Experience of managing customer relationships
  • Experience of delivering presentations to clients and a confident public speaker

Desirable Experience

Experience of corporate fundraising within the charity sector in the UK, or experience of working within the corporate social responsibility function of a large corporate employer

Essential Skills

  • A self-motivated individual who has the ability to work as part of a team
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to relate to internal and external contacts at all levels
  • Excellent written skills
  • A creative thinker
  • An ability to demonstrate initiative
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Well developed computer skills including Word, Excel, Powerpoint and databases
  • A genuine commitment to the voluntary sector
