Description:

Applicants need experience working as an Instrument Designer within an Engineering Contracting environment on Oil/Gas, Petrochemical or related projects.

Minimum ONC/HNC but experience in lieu of qualifications will be considered.

Must be able to integrate well into a team and work under own initiative.

Must have a strong working knowledge and be able to demonstrate experience in the following areas-
* Development of design related Specifications (Installation design, material specification, etc) based on own interpretation of Client specifications and standards.
* Design and development of cabling systems and installation of instrumentation including equipment and bulk material selection and sizing.
* Production, supervision and review/approval of design documentation and drawings including cable routing, equipment location, wiring termination, primary/secondary instrument installation, system architecture and building/equipment layouts, etc.
* Materials enquiries and purchase documentation, including responsibility for technical evaluations and approval of vendor documentation.
* Planning and forecasting design related workload and identification of required resources.
* Material take-off and cost estimates for home office design scope and estimates for site construction.

Experience in Electrical design would also be an advantage as the intention is to develop the role to cover both Instrument and Electrical disciplines.

Experience with the following design tools is required:
* Good working knowledge of Microstation and AutoCad
* Good working knowledge of SmartPlant Instrumentation which should include development and setup of cabling and hook-up design templates and standard reports/drawings
* Working knowledge of 3D modelling software (PDS or similar)
* Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Excel and Word)
