Job Function and Objectives:
The jobholder will design and develop new products from concept to production, working in a cross-functional team environment with sales, planning and manufacturing engineers.
Main Duties and Key Features:
·Complying with all company policies and procedures including Health, Safety & Environmental
·Creation and evaluation of new product concepts
·Preparation of initial designs using both 3D and 2D CAD
·Evaluation of designs by finite element analysis and other computational methods
·Safety, legal requirements, quality, cost and ease of maintenance to be assessed
·Design of test procedures, analysis of test results and reporting
·Preparation of detail drawings for costing and manufacture
·Coordination of the manufacture and/or sourcing of prototypes for testing and evaluation
·May also work with drawing office personnel on drawings and calculations for customer quotations or proposals
Suggested Qualifications:
Educated to degree level (or equivalent) with experience in design and development using computer aided engineering tools.May also have gained or be working towards Chartered Engineer status.
