Job Function and Objectives:

Working within the team ensuring the smooth running of the manufacturing area, the Improvement Engineer will identify, develop and deliver on potential areas for waste elimination and process improvement. Covering both, local day to day issues individually and local project based issues as part of a team, this person will have a deep knowledge of the inherent manufacturing processes and provide technical expertise for process improvements. Having proven experience within a manufacturing environment (ideally technically trained to HNC level) the job holder will have an understanding of the lean improvement tools and the application of such and will therefore be a team member offering technical expertise on any improvement projects conducted in the area. The primary objective of this role is to implement the agreed actions from improvement actions either developed individually or as part of a team.

Additionally this person will assist the area Production Engineer with development of process documentation, CNC programs and other engineering support as required.

Main Duties and Key Features:

·Complying with all company policies and procedures including Health, Safety & Environmental

·A leading role in the local implementation of the Production System (within a designated area of manufacturing).

·Having keys skills and expertise in the relevant manufacturing process present in the local area.

·To provide technical support regarding process / quality improvement and where necessary take corrective actions.

·Act as a member of the project team to implement lean manufacturing philosophies including cycle time improvements and waste reduction.

·Compilation of production processes information in support of improvement team activities.

·Ability to assist in local production engineering as and when required (process routings, CNC programming etc)

·Propose and implement amendments to the local factory layout for improved product flow.

·Ensure effective quality assurance practices are implemented and conduct structured analysis of performance.

·A working understanding of quality management systems such as ISO9001:2000

·Plus any other duties which you could be reasonably expected to perform.
