Our client is part of a large chain of restaurants based in the UK offering Latin American Cuisine and seeks a junior sous chef to join their kitchen brigade.

In the capacity of a Junior Sous Chef, you will be responsible for the general running of the Kitchen. You will be fundamentally responsible for preparation and supervision of food according to prescribed recipes and consistently maintaining standards of quality, cost, presentation, and flavour of foods.

You will assist the Head Chef in maintaining all food stock levels. You will ensure that all orders placed are with nominated suppliers, and notify the Head Chef of requirements for nominated cleaning materials. You will ensure that at all times the correct procedure for receiving and checking all incoming goods is carried out to the agreed standard and that storage of the same is carried out correctly and in a safe and hygienic way ensure correct stock rotation and labelling of all stock/products

You will also be responsible for overseeing of food production and kitchen personnel in the absence of Sous Chef as well as assisting him with supervision of employees and ensuring that all junior staff are well trained. Your other duties will include monitoring sanitation and safety, menu planning, and related production activities. You will be also accountable for the cleanliness and maintenance of work areas, utensils, and equipment, ensuring proper staffing for maximum productivity and high standards of quality.
Your administrative duties will include preparation of reports, menu costing and overseeing duty rotas. You will be required to perform any miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

The right candidate must be dedicated, hard working and with compassionate nature.

Applicants should have an experience working across all sections of the kitchen in a large restaurant and in busy environment at chef de partie (at NVQ level 3) or above for at least three years, 1 year of which should be in a high volume restaurant. Applicants should be also well organised, must be a good team player as well as possess excellent people management skills.
