Description:

A Sprinkler Design Engineer is required for a well known Fire Protection Company in the North West. The role offers a supreme salary along with excellent working conditions and use of modern facilities.

As part of your role you will produce accurate and detailed design plans and calculations for projects as directed by Design Manager, ensuring full awareness of programme and specification details.
To prepare full design pack for approval and sign off from all relevant parties in line with company procedures.

Attend discussion meeting with Design Manager/Project Engineer for allocated contracts in order to obtain clear understanding of client need
Be responsible for checking tender drawings against constructions drawings -discuss any alterations with Design Manager before producing designs
Consult with Design Manager/Project Engineer initiatives for cost savings by using alternative design concepts
Deal with incoming enquiries from suppliers, fabricators etc. ensuring queries are addressed immediately. Identify potential solutions and / or seek advise from relevant team member in order to resolve effectively
Produce accurate and detailed designs and calculations for new sprinkler systems in line with agreed programme
Consult with fitters, suppliers and fabricators regarding any design issues that may arise in order to ensure best practice.
Attend regular design review meetings to discuss progress levels and update / advise / consult other team members of potential issues, targets, amendments etc.
Visit the site in order to confirm site layout fits with design plans and to identify any potential obstructions that may have been omitted from the original plans
Once designs and calculations have been produced and checked (checklists to be fully completed) pass full design pack to Design Manager for internal approval prior to forwarding to LPC
Maintain all relevant design logs and matrices and complete checklists as required
Accountable for issue of drawings to LPC for Level B, then A Approval
Regularly liaise with LPC, insurance companies, clients and contractors to discuss potential amendments/compromises to design plans in order to achieve sign off from LPC and obtain approval certificate
Attend site to enable completion of As Fitted drawings
Issue of As Fitted drawings to relevant parties
Produce block plan drawings for site
Once approved drawings to be forwarded to fabricators for production of materials. Bracketry design to also be produced and forwarded to supplier for fabrication.
Amend / update the design and calculations once any changes have been agreed and signed off and following site installation of the sprinkler system add in any 'as fitted' alterations to the design plans to ensure final plans relate to exact installation to assist with any future on-site servicing
Completion of personal weekly time logs
Update/complete of "Incoming Drawing Register/Internal Drawing Register" when new or superceded drawings are received
Internal/external training will be required, supported by Design Manager
Produce designer risk assessments to form part of the project's health and safety documents
Keep up to date with legislation changes and ensure that rule books are maintained accurately
Adhere to stated policies and procedures relating to Health and Safety, and quality management
To execute all of the above in accordance with Alpine's guiding principles
