Location – Can be based anywhere in the UK (with regular travel to our head office in West Lothian). As this role covers key international markets, significant international travel will also be required

Contract Type – Permanent

Contracted Hours – 37.5 hours per week

It’s a very exciting time here at IMD – we are currently experiencing growth and as our markets mature, our business continues to move from strength to strength… you could say this is just like one of our own fine single malts! We have even bigger plans ahead of us. Our business is thriving and as we expand, we now have a requirement to appoint an International Brand Ambassador into our newly created brand function.

As our international brand ambassador, we are expecting great things from you, especially as you will be representing our greatest assets… our wonderful brands! You will live and breathe each of our brands and will consistently exude passion, the likes of which we hope to have never seen before! You will work closely with the wider brand team and with the business development directors and be well known to all of us internally and externally for your infectious high energy levels, your oodles of creativity and your bundles of enthusiasm. There should be no hiding from the fact that you will be the true embodiment of our brands!

Ideally with experience in stage, acting and marketing specialisms, your knowledge, experience and passion for spirits, in particular whisky, should be a given. With an outgoing, charismatic and gregarious personality, we want you to inspire, innovate and push boundaries. To widen the pool of consumers who would call themselves our brand advocates, we want you to be able to come to the table with fresh ideas and thinking and where appropriate be willing and able to proactively and intelligently challenge the norm and the status quo – no wall flowers here!

Reporting to the Sales and Brand Director, as our International Brand Ambassador, your key responsibilities and objectives will include

  • developing, organising and implementing (in liaison with Business Development Directors & Brand Managers) targeted plans

  • working with the distributor sales teams and their own brand ambassadors, to support the awareness, knowledge and understanding of our own brands and positioning, whilst also supporting and encouraging them to drive the sales of our brands

  • developing unique tasting programmes, tailored serves, and other innovative ways to presenting our brands to selected consumer groups, ensuring all activities are ‘on-brand’, and maximising the engagement of consumers & partners with our brands training people in the art of whisky tasting and appreciation

  • developing a reputation as the Whisky expert, being help in deep respect for your credibility, passion, knowledge and energy. You will be the brand evangelist, helping bring our brands to life in consumers’ minds

  • developing opportunity and capturing content for, and supporting the impact of, digital, social media to excite the market and further enhance the brands

  • contributing to and supporting the Business Development Directors in, the production of Region Growth Plans: The overall 3 year regional development plan; Individual ‘Tier 1 Country’ Distributor development plans; and Tier 1 Key City Execution plans

  • contributing to and supporting the Brand team in the development and execution of the Brand plans

  • supporting the work of our ‘Rare Malts' lead in developing the sales of individual high value vintages and special bottlings sold direct to key individuals and specialist shops

  • contributing to the management team, introducing the highest levels of professionalism and implementing world class operating standards and processes to prepare the Region for further growth

  • acting as a conduit for best practice and external knowledge group-wide and keep abreast of industry trends and competitor activity, ensuring product, marketing activities, strategic CRM initiatives and operations are setting industry leading standards
