IT Business Continuity Manager

Due to our IT departments continued growth we are seeking a Business Continuity Manager to head up a new team and provide a much needed service to the rest of the business.

The role we’re recruiting for

The Business Continuity Manager will be responsible for developing and maintaining the Functional/Location business and technology recovery plans. You will ensure documentation and other relevant B.C.M activity is conducted within the B.C.M Policy guidelines and as directed by the ITDR Steering Group.

Collaborating with the business managers, business continuity coordinators and infrastructure teams to identify the operations, processes and technologies required in building and maintaining optimal recovery plans. Ensuring both compliant and operationally effective programs are developed and in place to ensure recovery of the business.

The B.C.M will be expected to monitor their work e-mail during non-business hours and may occasionally be required to work on weekends and/or unsociable hours. He / She will be expected to be available to implement a process to manage out of hours B.C.P events in testing scenarios and if ever used in anger.

Coordinate short to long term resolution of issues including, but not limited to, identified risks, and internal audit actions. Coordinate recovery exercises and ensure they are compliant to the BC and ITDR Policy. Formulation, documentation and deployment of best practices, work flows, and process documentation. In partnership with the Crisis Management Teams and Business BC Coordinators and plan owners, conduct regular training sessions for stakeholders to ensure comprehension of policy, procedures and templates.Administration of all relevant documentation and reports.

You will have to make decisions based around escalation procedures.

You will need to know when to escalate to your immediate manager when you think procedures are not being followed and could result in risk exposure for the business.

You must assess and react on any immediate risks to continuity for IT being unable to provide service.

There will be times due to an emergency situation outside of normal control, a considerable amount of your normal workload will include out of hours functionality.

There will be a need to constantly check and update process with regards to the IT environment which also may be confrontational top the business requirements. Such instances must be managed through in the most diplomatic and non disruptive way.

It would be great if you had...

Strong interpersonal and negotiating skills and a proven ability to talk comfortably and knowledgeably with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, including at senior levels.

Broad understanding of Business Continuity and ITDR 3rd Party service providers.Solid working knowledge relating to BC and major IT platforms and infrastructure

Project management skills (preferably to industry best practice or standards such as PRINCE 2)
