Housing Support & Recovery Worker - Mental Health Charity

The Housing Support & Recovery Worker will provide flexible, proactive and assertive support which promotes recovery and independence within a positive risk management approach to adults (16+) with serious and enduring mental health issues who are resident in Oxfordshire.

Place of work:
 Didcot, South Oxfordshire. 
Salary: £19,939 - £23,935 per annum pro rata, SCP 21 - 27
Hours: 22.5 hours per week. Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday (7.5 hours per day) 
Contract: Open ended.

Purpose of the job

  • To offer an individual package of personalised support tailored to the needs of each service user.
  • Review service user’s needs with care co-ordinators at tenancy review and professional’s meetings.
  • Respond proactively to short term crisis situations, involve multi-disciplinary teams and where appropriate relatives/family.
  • Work with service users to promote positive mental health, enabling them to take ownership with support for their recovery
  • Prepare service users for independence by enabling them to develop skills to sustain accommodation and live in the community.
  • Encourage and assist service users to take up employment, volunteering, education and training and look after their physical health.
  • Assist carers and family to develop their understanding of mental health issues and involve them in the support planning process where appropriate.
  • Work with service users to develop and improve their social networks, address substance misuse issues and provide information on and referral to specialist advice and support agencies
  • Assess needs and risk of referrals within necessary time scales for the Single Point of Access.

About The Client 
Our client’s Transitional Supported Housing is for people aged 18 - 65 who have severe and enduring mental health problems. The service is part of a pathway of housing services that promote recovery and independence.

The service specifications were originally developed through the Oxfordshire Mental Health and Support Strategy 'From Supported to Independent Living'. The service is now part of a single outcome based mental health contract which is delivered by the Oxfordshire Mental Health Partnership (OMHP) to provide fully integrated adult mental health services across the county for five years. The partnership brings together Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust (lead contractor), our client, Connection Floating Support, Response, Restore and Elmore Community Services.

Benefits include: 28 days plus bank holidays per annum, pro rata, auto-enrolment pension scheme.
