Legal Cashier - Bolton - Permanent

The Legal Cashier will work alongside other legal cashiers to ensure all movement of monies coming in and going out of the business is dealt with accurately to deadlines and in accordance with SRA regulations.
They will safeguard client account monies and to deal with costs recovery calculations transferring monies to office account where appropriate. As well as being the point of contact for problems and queries from all fee earners and other support staff.
To deal with costs allocation forms received, calculating apportionments accurately.
To assist in allocation of BACS receipts coming into bank accounts daily and accurately.
To assist in processing all office cheque requests when required and produce cheque run.
To process all client accounts cheque requests, ensuring that all requests are authorised by the required signatory and produce cheque run.
To process credit notes and bill reversal forms including reversing payments and transfers and ensuring accurate re-allocation.
Work through weekly MI reports to deal with credit balances, client balances and balances on closed matters to ensure clearance as soon as possible.
Assist in writing back old un-presented cheques and dealing with the ledger as necessary.
To key Telegraphic transfers and BACS payment directly onto the Lloyds bankline ensuring accuracy at all times.
Post any necessary transfers between accounts ensuring matching bank entries are processed through the banking software.
Help to process weekly staff expense claims and send payment through BACS software when necessary.
Help to process write off forms and intel search forms if required.
Point of contact to deal with any finance related queries from fee earners and other support staff.
Any other duties that may be required to assist Senior Legal Cashier.
Essential Skills and Attributes
Previous experience as a legal cashier essential
Must have knowledge of SRA regulations.
Time management skills and ability to prioritise are essential.
Good mathematical skills - GCSE Grade A-C
The ability to think for yourself and problem solve.
Accuracy and attention to detail in this role is paramount.
Self motivated with a keenness and willingness to learn essential.
Good communication skills and ability to communicate effectively with both
Internal and external customers.
