Project Manager

  • From £30,000 to £37,500 per annum up to 7.5% bonus + share options ++

Role Title: Project Manager (PM)

Purpose of role: To drive and execute the W2 Global Data Solutions (“the company”) business mission through the development and deployment of the company’s suite of products. The PM will envision the company’s service offering using a global perspective driving the implementation of web based applications and overseeing all aspects of the company’s delivery of projects ensuring to plan for risk and growth.

Reports to: CEO.

Reportees: None.

Location: The PM’s normal contractual place of work will be the company’s Head Office (Cardiff) but travel to the R&D office (Bristol) will be required on a regular basis.

Main responsibilities

Strategy & Planning

In partnership with relevant members of the Senior Management Team (SMT) and Development Team (DT), identify opportunities and risks for delivering the company’s product suite, including opportunities for innovation and assessment of marketplace obstacles and hurdles to the business success.

In partnership with the relevant members of the SMT and DT devise project strategy and accompanying roadmap, including assisting with the production of client-facing materials.

Take part in the strategic planning to ensure the achieving of business goals by identifying and prioritising development initiatives and assist in setting timetables for the evaluation, development and deployment of all products.

Participate in establishing governance processes of direction and control to ensure that objectives are achieved, project risks are managed appropriately and the organisations resources are used responsibly in areas of product development.

When requested, communicate the company’s product and project strategy to investors, management, staff, partners, customers and stakeholders.

Implementation & Deployment

Work with the Product Manager to capture product requirements and develop a delivery plan for sign off by the SMT.

Take responsibility for project management, and bug tracking systems.

Work together with relevant members of the SMT and DT to ensure that the company’s software development methodology is in line with business goals for the product roadmap.

Work closely with relevant members of the DT to ensure delivery of products and product updates within agreed timeframes.

Ensure that user stories or alternative functional specifications are produced against which QA can be achieved.

Ensure that UI drawings or alternative visual/interaction specifications are produced against which development and QA can be achieved.

Manage customer migrations to newer versions of existing products.

Manage new customer onboarding and attend configuration workshops when required.

Review current best practices for UX design, build these into products as appropriate and educate the technical development team.

If requested assist with the selection of company staff or outsourced vendors who will implement and maintain the application(s).

Establish and supervise a quality assurance process, including integration and system testing to ensure product delivery meets business and customer requirements.

Select, deploy, and monitor performance profiling tools and procedures.

Operational Management

Ensure that product standards and best practices are maintained across the organization.

Share knowledge, mentor, and educate the organisation’s investors, management, staff, partners, customers, and stakeholders with regard to the company’s vision, opportunities, and challenges.

Ensure company product problems are resolved in a timely and cost-effective manner.

General responsibilities

Person Specification

  • Familiar with more than one software development methodology.
  • Ability to discern user requirements and develop specifications.
  • Knowledge of Internet protocols and RFC standards and revision control systems.
  • Ability to set and manage priorities judiciously.
