Technical Support Engineer

Job Role: Technical Support Engineer (fixed term contract)

Location: Barnstaple

Salary: Upon application

Our client is looking for a Technical Support Engineer to join their team in a fixed term role for 9-12 months starting in Oct/Nov.

This role requires the candidate to plan and coordinate enquiries as well as supporting and answering technical enquiries from internal and external customers. In addition, the role relies the candidate to have a good understanding of CAD (preferably Autodesk Inventor) to create 2D/3D models/drawings as well as being able to interrogate drawing data. Tasks also encompass responsibility for technical specification, mechanical analysis, conceptual design and production/feasibility of products.

Main duties:

  • To provide general technical support on new and existing products and materials both internally and externally.
  • Assist Sales and Marketing with technical queries, by liaising with clients as a technical representative and providing technical data for publication and promotional activities.
  • Produce and update CAD drawings, liaising with offshore CAD personnel to ensure requests are carried out in a timely manner.
  • Review potential projects to determine the practicality of carrying them out by undertaking further research, feasibility studies, risk analysis etc.
  • Defining the technical specification for products to be designed and developed for the project.
  • Liaise with Innovation engineers on development of new products, and implement in production by supporting the NPI process and project team.

  • Key Accountabilities:

  • Create and maintain strong links with clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Produce accurate and correct drawings in line with current specifications, standards and legislation.
  • To take ownership of technical enquiries and ensure they are resolved in a timely manner.
  • To utilise VAVE and other processes and achieve product/process cost reduction goals.
  • To be responsible for managing standards and technical records.
  • To liaise and manage external resource for drawing management.
  • To create and formulate innovative product proposals based on technologies/trends and customer/marketplace needs

  • Essential requirements

  • Degree / HND in mechanical engineering and /or design.
  • Project Management
  • Experience within valve manufacturing or Oil & Gas and Chemical Process Industries.
